2008-09
We are currently accepting registrations for our
Family Incited Religious Education process for this coming year.
For children in grades 1-5 we offer this Home assisted Parish program.
Our purpose is to help you to actively live your faith both as a family unit and as individual Christian disciples. We know that the family motivates and stimulates each member to grow in relationship with one another and with God. The family portion of our Religious Education process is the portion that makes it a living, exciting part of each child’s life- not a boring “class” that they do not connect with.
Your family sessions are complimented by the classroom sessions which help your child to see the greater communal aspect of Faith. With their peers they see that God is present to us in many ways and through many people. F.I.R.E. gives our children connections with the greatest of all faith- forming environments- home, Church and peers.

First grade is a year of introducing the Children to The Blessed Trinity. Getting to know God as Father, Brother- Friend, and Holy Spirit helps the child to develop a personal relationship with God. There is also a focus on creation, as children find God most clearly in his beautiful world. At the end of the year you will be introduced to a family Penance process. Each week you will either be presenting a lesson to your child, or reviewing with your child the lesson he/she experienced in the classroom. These lessons are indicated by day on the grade level calendar.Grade 1
Second grade is a year of introducing the Children to the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Special Family Days for First Penance will occur at the beginning of the year. The children will then have the opportunity to receive God’s loving forgiveness before Thanksgiving. Special Family Days for Eucharist will begin after the New Year. Children who are ready will receive their First Holy Eucharist in the spring. All the dates are included on the grade 2 calendar. Each week you will either be presenting a lesson to your child, attending special sacrament Family Days, or reviewing with your child the lesson he/she experienced in the classroom. Third grade is a year of introducing the Children to the Church. The Church is the body we belong to that most helps us to live in the Kingdom. We will learn about the community of Jesus’ friends that we call the Church. We will learn how the Church began and grew. We will learn that the Holy Spirit guides us. You will find some additional service opportunities included on the calendar and a special Mass celebrating the third graders. Each week you will either be presenting a lesson to your child, or reviewing with your child the lesson he/she experienced in the classroom. These lessons are indicated by day on the grade level calendar.Grade 3
Fourth grade is a year of introducing the Children to the moral lifestyle of a Catholic Christian. We will learn about the lifestyle of the community of Jesus’ friends that we call the Church. In order to live in the Kingdom we must embrace a certain lifestyle. This will be a year of growing up with a moral lifestyle by living out the Beatitudes and the Commandments. The Holy Spirit guides us as we build up the kingdom by the way we live. A Catholic lifestyle includes service to the Church; you will find some additional service opportunities included on the calendar and a special Mass celebrating the fourth graders. Each week you will either be presenting a lesson to your child, or reviewing with your child the lesson he/she experienced in the classroom. These lessons are indicated by day on the grade level calendar.Grade 4
Fifth grade is a year of introducing the Children to the many gifts that we receive through the sacramental life of a Catholic Christian. We will learn how the community of Jesus’ friends that we call the Church recalls and celebrates the work of Jesus Christ. In the kingdom, we are all “new Christs” by our baptism we are called to make Jesus present to all. We will see how the Holy Spirit of God helps us to become signs of Jesus’ Presence in our world. To help your child exercise the rights and duties of a baptized Christian you will find some additional service opportunities included on the calendar and a special Mass celebrating the fifth graders. Each week you will either be presenting a lesson to your child, or reviewing with your child the lesson he/she experienced in the classroom.
